Access control for hybrid femtocell network based on AGV mechanism

As most of voice calls and data traffic originates indoors, femtocells have been one of the most promising trends in LTE, which are short-range, cost-beneficial and low-power cellular home base stations that can improve indoor coverage and voice/data quality of service (QoS). One of the major challenges for femtocell network is the access control. The hybrid access control mechanism, as a tradeoff between open and closed scenario, is the most promising access mechanism from which both users and operators benefit. Femtocell user equipments (FUEs) select femtocell access points (FAPs) according to their reported channel information which FAPs confidently own, and selfish FAPs have incentive to report larger information to win greater opportunity to be selected. Considering the aforementioned truth-telling in access control issue, this paper proposes access control scheme for hybrid femtocell network based on Arrow-d'Aspremont-Gerard-Varet (AGV) mechanism. Close form for the payment is given. Moreover, the access control scheme is nearly optimal performances with low computational complexity compared with the optimal access scheme. Furthermore, the simulation results demonstrate that the access control scheme can be apply to hybrid femtocell network. ? 2014 Global IT Research Institute (GIRI).EICPCI-S(ISTP)

Nitrate is considered as a contamination since it’s over discharging to water incurs environmental problems. However, nitrate is an ideal electron sink for anaerobic pollutant degraders desiring electron acceptors due to the high redox potential. Unfortunately, not all degraders can directly reduce nitrate, and the anaerobic direct interspecies electron transfer (DIET) between degraders and denitrifiers has not been confirmed yet. Here we demonstrated that syntrophic growth of Geobacter sulfurreducens PCA with denitrifying microbial community at anaerobic condition eliminated the lag phase of 15 h and improved the denitrification rate by 13∼51% over a broad C/N ratio of 0.5 to 9. Quantitative PCR revealed that G. sulfurreducens selectively enhanced the expression of nirS coding for a cytochrome cd1-nitrite reductase, resulting in a fast and more complete denitrification. Geobacter also selectively enriched its potential denitrifying partners – Diaphorobacter, Delftia, and Shinella – to form spherical aggregates. More studies of the binary culture system need to be carried out to confirm the syntrophic mechanism of Geobacter and denitrifiers in the future. These findings extend our knowledge on understanding the anaerobic bacterial interspecies electron transfer in the denitrification process, which has broader implications in fast selection and stabilization of denitrifiers in wastewater treatment plant, and general understanding of ecology for nitrogen and metal cycling

Physicochemical and structural properties of pregelatinized starch prepared by improved extrusion cooking technology

Pregelatinized starch was made from indica rice starch using a so-called "improved extrusion cooking technology" (IECT) under 30%-70% moisture content. IECT-pregelatinized starch (IPS) had higher water solubility and water absorbability compared to native starch at low temperature. For pasting properties, the breakdown and setback viscosities of IPS were significantly (p < 0.05) lower than native starch, suggesting improved gel stability and reduced short-term retrogradation. The rice starch granules lost their integrity in IPS, and formed a honeycomb-like structure with increased moisture content in the raw material. These properties can be explained in terms of molecular structural features, particularly the large reduction in the size of molecules, but without significant changes in the chain-length distributions of amylopectin component, and no significant change in amylose fraction. These results indicate that IECT is suitable for preparing IPS with desirable water solubility and gel stability properties. (C) 2017 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved

Subsyndromal symptomatic depression (SSD) is a subtype of subthreshold depressive and also lead to significant psychosocial functional impairment as same as major depressive disorder (MDD). Several studies have suggested that SSD is a transitory phenomena in the depression spectrum and is thus considered a subtype of depression. However, the pathophysioloy of depression remain largely obscure and studies on SSD are limited. The present study compared the expression profile and made the classification with the leukocytes by using whole-genome cRNA microarrays among drug-free first-episode subjects with SSD, MDD, and matched controls (8 subjects in each group). Support vector machines (SVMs) were utilized for training and testing on candidate signature expression profiles from signature selection step. Firstly, we identified 63 differentially expressed SSD signatures in contrast to control (P< = 5.0E-4) and 30 differentially expressed MDD signatures in contrast to control, respectively. Then, 123 gene signatures were identified with significantly differential expression level between SSD and MDD. Secondly, in order to conduct priority selection for biomarkers for SSD and MDD together, we selected top gene signatures from each group of pair-wise comparison results, and merged the signatures together to generate better profiles used for clearly classify SSD and MDD sets in the same time. In details, we tried different combination of signatures from the three pair-wise compartmental results and finally determined 48 gene expression signatures with 100% accuracy. Our finding suggested that SSD and MDD did not exhibit the same expressed genome signature with peripheral blood leukocyte, and blood cell–derived RNA of these 48 gene models may have significant value for performing diagnostic functions and classifying SSD, MDD, and healthy controls

AbstractThis paper shows the dy namics of gold prices in the Gold Exchange in NEW YORK using a dataset that includes global macroeconomic indicators, financial market indices, quantities and prices of energy products. We extract common factors from the panel data series and estimate a Factor-Augmented Vector Auto-regression for gold prices. It shows that a factor correlated to purely financial developments contributes to the model performance, in addition to factors related to gold reserves and energy prices. This paper has two main contributions. First, all factors influencing the gold market have been classified into three groups, that is, gold reserve and prices of energy products, financial market indices, global macro- economic indicators. We can see that the effect of financial market indices and macroeconomic indicators to gold price is negative, the effect of gold reserve and prices of energy product to gold price is positive. Second, we apply the FAVAR model to analysis factors influencing gold price and the trend of gold price

Background The aim of this study was to determine the factors influencing viral shedding time (VST) in non-severe paediatric infection with SARS-CoV-2).Methods We conducted a retrospective analysis of data from 240 non-severe paediatric infection with the SARS-CoV-2. Multivariate Cox regression analysis was used to identify independent predictors associated with VST.Results Two hundred and forty patients were included in the study. The median duration of VST was 10 days (IQR, 8–13 days). Compared with patients aged <1 year, children aged 6–12 years (adjusted HR (aHR): 1.849; 95% CI 1.031 to 3.315) and >12 years (aHR: 2.180; 95% CI 1.071 to 4.439) had shorter VST. Non-leucopenia patients (aHR: 1.431; 95% CI 1.005 to 2.038) also had a lower VST.Discussion The results of this study show that children aged <1 year and children with leucopenia had longer SARS-CoV-2 VST. These factors should be taken into account when developing policies for the isolation of patients with COVID-19

Joint Access Control and Subchannel Allocation Scheme for Femtocell-Based M2M Network Using a Truthful Mechanism

No full text
A joint access control and subchannel allocation (JACSA) scheme is proposed in this paper for femtocell-based machine-to-machine (M2M) network to provide better communication services. As short-range and cost-beneficial eNodeBs, femtocells can improve indoor coverage and data transmission, and can further be used for M2M communication. There are two challenges for femtocell network, access control and truth-telling. Femtocell machine-type communication devices (FMD) select femtocell access points (FAPs) according to the reported channel capacities, while the true values are private information of each femtocell. Therefore, selfish FAPs have incentive to report larger capacities to win greater opportunity to be selected. To solve the aforementioned two problems, a JACSA scheme based on the Arrow-d'Aspremont-Gerard-Varet (AGV) is proposed both in open access and hybrid access scenarios, and formula derivations are given. We prove that, compared with the optimal subchannel allocation (OSA) scheme, JACSA scheme has the feature of achieving near optimal performances with much lower computational complexity. Furthermore, we compare the allocation results for open access and hybrid access in the proposed JACSA scheme. Finally, simulations are performed, and the results verify the availability of our proposed scheme
